Found this. This may be what you already found. Is it possible that your piece could have been the center of the inside portion of the wheel hub? There appears to be a disk shaped object in the photos below but your piece may be too small. I also found mention of a Mitchell Wagon on display at the Heritage Museum in Racine, Wisconsin. You may want to take the time to call the curator there to see if they can locate your piece on their wagon. They may even take a photo for you and send it to you electronically.

The Story of the Mitchell Wagon

"Monarch of the Road"

Hundreds of local and regional wagon manufacturers offered the farm wagon, a rough equivalent to today's pick-up truck.

The Mitchell Wagon Company was established in 1854: by 1918 John Deere was making Mitchell wagons. In the interim, Mitchell--a Racine Wisconsin company--proudly declared their wagon the "monarch of the road."

The 1884 Mitchell Wagon was a double box (two board) model, but a third board could be ordered from the factory, or more could be fitted by a local wainwright.

The fifth board on the back of the wagon facilitated throwing corn into the wagon, it was banked or "bumped" off the bump board.
