Iknow they were used during the depression and the real early ones were made of cardboard.Then they changed to aluminum,copper. You con see them on ebay

Give Clevenger a call at Clevenger Detector sales on N. Oak in Gladstone, Mo. Better yet, if you've never been there, drop in and talk with him. Only person I know who makes a living with Metal Detectors. His display case makes the trip worthwhile.

I have been to Clevengers a few times. I wish his store was a little bigger so it would be easier to browse. I love to look at all his treasures.

some tax tokens like these were issued up imntill mid 50's I have a fewform other staes an about ten from missori it might be worth a buck some of these tokens were made of plastic also. I know a decent amount about coins and the like but I dont know anything about metal detecting but i want to learn

They made a lot of them and Missouri was the last state to keep them on the books, I've found two aluminum 1 mill in Iowa, but not a 5, and yours looks great! I didn't bookmark any sites, but do a search on Google.com and you can read about them.
