Missing CS spur piece

Just in from low country trip with Greg Toney (SC digger). We had some bad weather to contend with but all in all, another successful trip down. Ended up going to my war of 1812 camp where we dug another slew of flat buttons and 5 more military. Three 1812 Corp and a one piece, eagle A (1820s)-pictured (both Greg and mine pictured). Not pictured was an earlier us artillery two piece (1840s). This was a massive camp (mostly artillery and based on finds was active from early 1800 through 1850.
My find of the week however was the"almost" completion of a CS stamped spur. I dug the two end pieces in our Calvary camp field last year and this year, with cotton still in the field, I somehow managed to pull the rowel end out. This could have been another random spur part but the CS marked side and this back piece married up perfectly. Missing about 2 inches from other side. Thanks for looking.

Russ

Very nice finds. To find another piece of the spur is just amazing. Very well done sir!

Your buttons are sweet too!

Best of luck to you in 2016.

Russ great Lowcoutry Digs. Wasn't the weather just wonderful Sunday morning (for ducks) Today was good but chilli. Calling for more rain this week and wondering where they gonna, put it. We went to couple spots and couldn't even walk without sinking up about a foot.

watched the video and when you wiped the front off I think my heart skipped a beat! Great detail and wasn't expecting it! "GOD DANG!" haha Great finds!

Good save, anything stamped with C.S. is killer in my book.Saweet buttons.

Killer buttons! My favorite the artillery! Congrats!

Nice digs Russ. I love those war of 1812 Artillery buttons.

Oh man that is just way cool on that stamped spur. The 1812 stuff items are in really nice shape. Enjoyed seeing it!

Froze my hands off this morning as well on a coastal site, but certainly beats working. The condition on your CORPS buttons is outstanding- the few that I've recovered didn't fair so well in the surf. Congrats on a productive trip to the LC

That's a totally rad set of finds! I hope you find that last piece of spur someday. I'm rooting for ya!

Cheers and big huge congrats!!!

Nice buttons but that spur is just awesome!! Anything with CS on it is a super great find in my opinion. Huge congrats and was hoping to see y'all at the relic show in Mt Pleasant. Was my first show and really enjoyed it. Congrats again!

Hey Darby-thanks. was thrilled to get that back piece.
We thought about going but we were at the 1812 camp and since we were having luck, stayed there instead!
Talk to you soon.

Those buttons are just beautiful! Your site is continuing to impress!

Those are some fantastic digs. Good news is that you know now that the rest of the spur is there. Just a matter of time and a bit of luck and you'll have it all.

Cheers,

Buck

Oh yeah-it is there. 20 acre field that needs a good turning. Hopefully that will happen this year. Still like the proverbial needle in the haystack scenario.
Good luck to you in 2016!
