It's really not going to make any difference to you guys where I found a certain arrowhead, and it might seem like a dumb post to you, but it does make a big difference to me, and here's why. I did a post on this Riker case, points10F4.jpgpoints10F4.jpgand point A was said to have been found on a road berm. Well, that was wrong, but that's no big deal, right? Well yeah it was to me, because later I was looking through my saved pictures, and found a photo of another that looks a whole lot like point A, and realized my mistake, point A from the riker case is also the left hand point in this next picture,points10F1.jpgand was found in a pen when we were working cows, and the center one was off the side of a road on the berm. So what? Well damn it, when I found the picture of the center one, and realized my mistake, the picture had been saved on a CD, and that photo had been taken when the point was found, at the location it was found, at the time of the find, right along side of the creek where we parked to camp. At the time I remembered my mistake, but thought to myself that I'd continue searching through the photos and then come back to it to bring it into this computer. There were several other photos at the same location on the CD which were located along with the picture of the center point that I wanted to also save into this computer. And now, here's the reason this misidentified location has become a big deal to me. I just the other day saw those pictures, and I've been back through all those bloody CD's over and over, and can't find that picture or any of the other photos that were with it, and it's driving me nuts. So if you hear of a guy in Oregon going postal and bashing his computer to simtherines that would be me. This is going to drive me nuts until I do find those photos, and somehow, someway I've got to figure out a better way to store pictures, because CD's suck. Thumb drives beat CD's but they aren't the answer either, because it's hard to write on them to tell what's in them because of their small size, so that means that each drive has to be opened to see what folders are in there. And if a person didn't so a good job identifying the saved photo, every bloody picture has to be searched. I think I'm going to buy a large stand alone hard drive, and save every picture I have on the CD's and everywhere else onto the hard drive, at least that would make the search all in one place. Right now I have photo's on floppy's, CD's, thumb drives and in three computers, this one, a MAC and a Windows 97 machine. Anyhow, here's another photo I just took today, of the flip side of same three points. All three are obsidian, found in Nevada and Oregon desert country, one in a pen of cattle, one along side the road and I do believe the third is from around Silver Lake on a friend of a friends property. This time I was invited along, and we were looking for arrowheads, and had walked out past their alfalfa field, which would have been prehistoric lake bottom, and I found this point at a long ago lake shore location of a probable camp, where the people living there had found plenty of artifacts before, usually after every rain they'd find something in that location, and they have a bunch of really good stuff. points10F3.jpg

The best way in the desert to hunt for artifacts is horse back. Let the horse watch where it's going, you just look at the ground, and can see further. Works great, but the best is after a rain, then they shine up right at you.

I feel your pain. I changed computers not long ago backed everything up on a spare back up drive and then the two computers were supposed to migrate, haha yeah whatever I am still recovering pictures. I have no idea what I even found last year as I was keeping a digital record.

It does look a lot like like it in the picture as Kuger said.. You better find those old pics. Good looking stuff it is as well.
