Hey everyone! I went out hunting the other day and it was a slow going day. Item number 2 I believe is a lipstick case but not sure. Item #3 I have no clue, it just says "M" on it. Item #4 I'm sure everyone has found at least once. I find them alot but still don't know what they are. But, item #1 is the most interesting item. It seems to be made of copper or maybe brass. It is rather heavy and has lenses on both sides. The lenses bulge outward on each side so how that would "focus" on something I don't know. It also has a small hole in the side and I don't think the pieces screw together. I tried to get the best pictures I could if you need more I can take them. Hopefully some of you experts can help.

#3 kinda looks like those things you pass a tarp or such over and then you twist top half of #3 and it locks it down. Does it look like the top might twist?

It could be I suppose. It came from what I believe to be a trash dump for hotels from the 1900-1930's range. But I've looked through it and it doesn't focus in a way you would tell who standing outside your door.

Number 4, I've seen those on WWII surplus canteen cases and to close the pouches on cartridge belt/pouches.
Note the snaps.

The thing with the lenses looks like an old loupe to me. Could be for a jeweler or a printer.
I'm a printer myself and use one every day.

if the range of focus is pretty limited and it only comes into clear focus at close range (an inch or less) it's probably a loupe.
If not, I really don't know.

It's a cool find; I do know that much.

Well thanks for trying. One question,on your loop do the lenses both point in the same direction or bulge outward?

There are different kinds. The common/standard single lens loupe is convex, meaning that from the top looking down, the lens bulges outward toward the user. "Concave" means it's bulges inward. Concave lenses make images appear smaller rather than larger. It's like looking through a telescope or binoculars backwards.

On the double lens loupe I use, called a "Paragon", the top lens is also convex, bulging toward the top and the bottom bulges slightly outward in the opposite direction.
The top lens is threaded in order to focus the two together.

Check out this link for some pics of modern jewelers loupes. A few look similar to yours.

I hope this helps.
Whatever it turns out to be it's definitely a cool find.
