Today was 75 in Va! Found a mini ball but it is larger than a standard 58 cal. It is 1 1/8" long. Pictured next to a 58 cal bullet. Can anyone tell me the caliber and what type of weapon might have used it.
Also found some type of very old hoist. It is about 5 1/2" long. Anyone ID it for me. All were found on a confederate campsite in Catlett, Va. thanks DSCI2794.webpDSCI2795.webp

I bottom piece looks like single tree hardware.

Hi Steve. It looks to be a .69 caliber minie ball for a rifled musket. Springfield supplied a ton of .69 caliber muskets during the War. Hit it with a caliper to be sure on the caliber, but it looks like that is what you have. Cool finds.

Agree with Tony, off a single tree.

I agree you likely have a 69 cal minnie , it could run a little larger 71-.72.
