Hi all,

Some of you may remember my posting this Draped Bust copper last year. I found this in a cellar hole. I just noticed that the obverse and the reverse are not 180 degrees from each other. Notice the hole in the coin as a reference point in each picture. No I did not drill the hole :-\ I guess if it is an error the coin is ruined due to the hole :'( :'( bummer! It is still one of my favorite finds just the same, very unique. Any thoughts on this?

This is called a rotated die. Not that uncommon on the older dates. I dont think that it was as much of a big deal to have the dies pefectly rotated back in those days.

It may bring a small premium over a normally rotated reverse.

Thank you VPR for your information. That is good to know and I'm happy that I found one.
