Thanks for the replies, quito, that is a scraper but may have been a knife at one time. I really enjoy looking at your larsons, T Witko , and coteau artifacts. Its almost like were hunting the same sites sometimes, except we don't have any of the bone tools like larson's site.
Those are some great points, a nice variety of types and materials! You're on some very good spots it looks like. I know how hard it is (for me) to find complete, unbroken points.
I don't have much experience with hunting the Red R., but I lived in Fargo, Grand Forks, and Wahpeton. Please keep posting your finds, I like to see what is found on the Red...
just sayin' to the other members here that the red river is the border between north dakota and minnesota and.................
........i see the nicely flaked knife river flint pieces....looks like you found them about 250 miles from the knife river flint quarries
one another note the red river is the only river in the midwest that flows north.....into canada
......also the red riv is loaded ....and i do mean loaded with a very prolific population of channel catfish...and huge huge channel cats really big..........i mean BIG
.........and just beautiful fish
Thanks for the replies , coteau you're right, I find a lot of broken ones for every full point. Yes Larson, I've been cat fishing since I was young, and I even sold frogs as a child to the fishermen from Iowa. These fishermen used to come to the area in search of big catfish, but I have always preferred walleye.
