I found this Transistor GE miniature portable radio at the salvation army, it measures 5 by 3 inches, it looks new; Includes 9-volt battery of course the battery was drained, earphone and leather carry case. And some manufacturer paper work, I could not found the date, when the radio was made?-- It works just fine!

I have watched this treasure net forum for sometime already! And finally I have decided to start posting. Well here are the Radio Pictures..

Welcome! Lots to learn here. Sharing your stories, finds and knowledge helps us all.

It's great that you got the original box with the radio. I would date the radio to the 1960's. Can you find a model number on it? BTW-Welcome to the forum!

Yes! on the General Electric Radio/portable Authorized Service Facilities & parts Distributors, paper work! on the bottom left-- this information is written down: General Electric 113A7794 (11-65)----PTD. in Hong Kong.

Thank you! guys for welcome me, to this informative forum. I have learned from this forum already, how to look for stuff! (silver, antiques, Paintings, and so on... Thank you... ;D

I'm gonna guess that (11-65) is the date of manufacture. The other numbers don't correspond with anything I can find. Their should be a model number somwhere on the radio itself. Try taking it out of the leather case and take a look.

Is it Ivory Red or Blue?

Had this exact radio back in the late 60s. If I remember correctly it cost $3 or $4 or so of my allowance.

There should be a little metal ID plate on the back with Nodel # etc. Open the back ( there might be one screw holding the back on) look inside on the back & there might be a paper sticker with a bunch of QC stamps & a rubber stamped date of manufacture on the tag.

Hope that helps you out some.

The color is Black with silver color on front.-- with 6 transistor and General Electric written on front. I did open it and found a paper with this numbers P1735---and 154A6843.. Thank you..

Try Googling the numbers, you might luck out. You might end up finding some others listed on EBay. Be careful of the case, the leather was cheap & dried out and got brittle quickly.

I know nothing about radios, but I found a pocket radio very similar to this one. I tried selling it on ebay, I had alot of watcher, but no buyers. Original packaging is always a plus though.

Give it a try on Craigs list. You might have to run the ad for awhile, until some sees it and figures out it's a "GOTSTA" (Gotsta have it) the good thing is CL is free. I've had pretty good luck there. If it doesn't sell you might get something cool in a trade.

I collect old radios , I have some going back to the turn of the century . This one looks like a 1968 model that I have, it was made through 73.
It is one that collector's like me look for but it is not worth very much at this time. Now this does not mean that you can not make some money with this model.
They are a very good model that lasted and did not drop the components after a year like some did.
Take care of the batteries that you use with this one. It was very sensitive to the voltage and real cheap batteries do not go well with it.
I will look in my book on this model when I get home and see if I can find hard data on this model for you.
