I think Michelle has it... those handcuffs are novelty items... IMHO.

Pretty cool find though.

Probebly for "fingers" judging by the size. (Trying to get the thought of erotic hobbits out of my brain now!)

My grandfather who was a policeman had a similar pair that were used as a tie tack. Just another possibility. But the pair he had were not operational, or at least I dont remember them as being so..

The smaller ones are tie tacks and the first one should be thumb cuffs.
It doesn't look like the chain on the 1st ones would be strong enough for thumbcuffs. Not all but most of the tie tacks I've seen are either 10-14K gold or sterling.

I agree with all of you...

The smaller tie-tack cuffs usually do not operate and are usually sillver... i used to own a pair (tie-tack).

The thumb cuffs are not strong enouth to actually work under pressure, but they do actually operate and are really only a novelty item.

I've carried hand-cuffs for over 23 years "on-the-job" and although I am by no means an expert, I can assure you they come in every size and shape and for every occassion (which Victoria's Secret capitalizes on!). BTW... i carry them as a military cop, not a Victoria's Secret representitive... 8)

I remember that type of keychain back in the 70's, it's a keychain and it came with only one cuff. The large link oppsite the cuff was where the missing key clasp was attached.

BINGO, I think I've got one, but without the chain. Couldn't quite figger it out. Have to go dig it out of the misc. finds pile..kind of a cute keeper, actually :-\

Hey! I thought of this post a few weeks ago. Saw some of your key chain cuffs for sale in those 25 cent dispensers at the grocery store entrance. Next to the bubble gum and kiddy rides, along with mini guns and imitation gansta bling. Boy how times have changed. When I was a kid .... LOL
