Mines or caves

If you find out, let me know. In this part of Missouri, there are plenty, but most are on private property and the few on government land are sometimes rigged with cameras operated by the conservation department--to catch people destroying the caves environment, I imagine. I always wanted to search a few caves and I know of one which was used as a bar and restaurant when I was a kid. It burned down 20 years or so ago, and today is clearly marked off limits. This is one I plan to seek permission to search the mouth of. Problem though, many people used to party there after the bar burnt down. There was trash everywhere last time I was there. It is located on HWY 17, in Pulaski County, between Waynesville and Crocker Mo. If you are from Mo., whereabouts?

This pertains only to caves.

I have been caving for about ten years in GA, AL, TN. I belong to the national orginization. The locations
of caves that can be entered is secret to prevent vandalism. Geographical maps used to show locations
of caves and mines but the locations have now been removed due to the efforts of conservational cavers.
This was done to portect the caves. Alot of the entrances have locked gates.

My suggestion is for you to locate a caving club (grotto) in your area. Once you gain the confidenance of
the grotto they might take you to many caves. It is worth the effort.

I must tell you that NOTHING can be removed from the caves without penalty of the law. You can go
to prison if you sell anything obtained from caves. They are protected and we all like it that way.

Sorry to pop your ballon but these are the facts.

Dinkydick,

We are looking for caves so we can take pictures of them not take anything from them!! I understand what some people are capable of but I assure you that we are not them!! We have never taken anything form cave and never will, we want to be able to keep enjoying them for as long as we can!!

I didn't mean to sound soo harsh.

If you follow my suggestion to contact a grotto you will have plenty caves to visit.

For the record, the junction of TN, AL, and GA is called TAG. Within the TAG area are 25,000 caves. I think that these caves will keep you busy for awhile.

Tell me where you are located and I can give you names and locations of grotto's near your area.
