Detector(s) used
WHITE'S MXT
I'm new to the hobbie, and I already have a new White's MXT. that works great, but i'm thinking about a second detector for my wife and kids to use, and to use as a "double checker" for my mxt, What are your opinions on the minelab X-terra 70?? it seems to have a lot of the same features of the mxt but also 3 seperate operating freqs.
so what do you think?

also here are a few finds I made last weekend i northern WA.

Very nice finds. I checked out the x-terra and it appears to be a good detector, but it seems to have to have a coil for different options of hunting and there were a few things in it's general operation that I personally didn't care for. Have you considered the White's M6? I did like that detector and appears very capable. I just opted to get the DFX instead, but like the M6 very much.

I am a total newb and have the X-Terra 70. I am really enjoying it, very easy to use.

Funny thing. My wife wants to start hunting. I may get the MXT for her to compare.

Good luck which ever way you go, Beale.

The X70 is a better salt beach detector for sure.It also is a smoother operating unit. The MXT is the better gold nugget hunter and the X70 a better coinshooter.Overall a good compliment to your MXT. 8)

:) Torpedox: I use White's XLT, White's GM3, Tesoro's and minelab's EXP
but not the X70. I do have several friends that have the X70 and they just love it. Its easy to learn but to get the max effect out of it you will have to buy another coil for it. If you want to get a Minelab thay have several other detectors in the same price range
that I feel would be a better buy without having to buy extra coils.
HH no matter what you do......

not sure about everyone else but i sure do like mine ! its not hard to remember the numbers system once you get digging with it i give it 2 thumbs up ;)

Just got my X-terra 70 the other day. I like the numbers display. My whites prizm was good but was terrible at telling what it found. A penny showed as a dime, a dime showed as quarter, a whole soda can at 3 inches showed as a Penny. Can't wait for my 5 x 10 Double D coil to really pin point my targets. silver rings also rate higher [30's] than pull tabs [16]. My prizm showed silver rings, gold rings as pull tabs.
