I called Minelab customer service and was redirected to Kevin. He spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me answering my questions in a very professional manner. He also called an Ace hardware store to see if they carried a longer 1/4 inch wingnut for my loop support on my excal 2. I was very impressed with the time he took to help me. The AC backup battery pack is still on backorder which Kevin verified.
Maybe Minelab is back in customer care!

Lets hope so,maybe they finally realized customer service is a big part of doing business!

I am not trying to to be a smart a$$ but to find a wing nut and bolt all we have to do is go to ...Home Depot or a hardware store our self.......We could be hurting the service for our selfs if we bother them with small things like that.

kando, I paid enough for the excal and I expect service no matter what the problem. I also had some other questions that I thought were important enough to call. All reputable companies are supposed to honor their warranties. For your information, I tried 4 hardware stores and did an online search for the wing nut before I called Minelab.

Lowes caries a good selection of 1/4 inch nylon and ss wing nuts in various lengths. I have bought both several times there to use on my custom shafts....

Treasurehunter, I went to Lowes in Bradenton, Fl and they dont carry the nylon 1/4 " in longer lengths. Also went to 2 Ace hardware stores and that only have 2". Next step is an Ace Hardware in St Pete's. All this to get an 1/2 " extension!!!!

Home Depot also carries them (at least in Oregon).

What size do you need I can check here for you? You looking for 2.5 inch???

Yes, 2.5" is a good size for the loop support. i'd appreciate your help!!!

Thanks for the advice MT!! I'll make a trip once I locate them. Maybe they can ship it to me if its too far.

I see they have a Fastenal located in Bradenton. They will have what you want.

I tried using a 3'' nylon wing nut and bolt from my over and under shaft and guess what? The plexiglass support that goes on the coil doesnt line up properly to give the coil some rigidity. Somebody didnt design it right. I see some members have done a great job making their own supports. I'm not that handy! I'll just tighten the coil to its maximum and replace the 2" wingnuts when necessary. Thanks MT and everyone else for your help.

Meanwhile, everyone lost focus of the thread. ::) :D

I'm glad to hear Kevin took care of you and gave you good customer service. :icon_thumleft:

Good suggestions on the nylon bolts too fellas. :  :icon_thumleft:
