Minelab Safari Detector

I can't answer your question, but there are videos on youtube that will give you a good idea what it sounds like. There sure are a lot of tones. Personally, and this is just my opinion, too many tones are just confusing. I was thinking about trying one but now I'm not so sure.

Thank you for the information.

I think Minelab is currently running a special on Safari reg $998.95 for $898.95. You might find a used Safari for $650-$700 or rarely $600. It weighs about 5.5 lbs but for under $40 you can get a Swingy Thingy bungee harness that will make it feel very light.

The Explorer SE you can get used for $750-900 or $1200-$1300 new.

The Etrac is $1000-1200 used & about $1500 new I think.

The Explorer II was about $1200 new but you can get a used one for $600-$700.

The Safari has a few less adjustments so a little less to memorize. In an air test I get 11.5" on dime with a 36-40 (coin) ID, sensitivity 18 out of 20 to get rid of indoor electrical interference.

I have pretty bad soil but on my clad dime buried 5" deep & somewhat tilted it IDs as a coin every time, from every angle, with a strong beep. I'm told the numerical ID is pretty good to 6"-7". Below that, things are less certain, but there shouldn't be pulltabs 8"+ deep unless an area has been renovated with fill dirt. Best wishes, George (MN)

Minelab is also having a special on Explorer SE for $1,098.95 so the savings on a new Safari is only $200. HH, George (MN)
