Actually, he subsequently asked me some questions about using the machine at black sand beaches. I told him that I live in Illinois and have no experience with salt water detecting. I do know that this machine will find silver in parks and yards though.

It will run very smooth on saltwater beaches. I don't know about extreme black sands like I've heard Hawaii has but I do know first hand the Safari, Explorer, Etrac and ctx all work well on wet salt beaches of FL

This is a fantastic machine for 95% of treasure hunting. Excellent on the wet sand beach and probably one of the best for deep silver. If I didn't already have several Minelabs I would have snatched this one.
