While detecting on a beach I often got signals that were short loud high pitched anywhere from 8 to 26 on the 32 scale. There were not repeatable when swinging back and forth - only sounded when going in one direction. Often could not find any target with those signals. Who can share some advise?

Did you try different directions? Ie.: turn 90*, etc.... And move up and back over it, to make sure you're not on the tip-end of a long pipe or lengthy wire type signal ? If they're not repeatable, I skip them. But it would depend on what you mean by "repeatable". Because depending on your disc. settings, the point at which they're "not repeating", could be into your black-out zone, and simply have gone into the iron zone of your disc'd out settings (ie.: a low "bounce" on the TID). So try ferrous mode with your screen wide open (and you can just ignore the iron grunts).

Also if your sens. is up too high, you'll get falses from wet salt minerals. I rarely ever go over 20-ish when on the wet salt. What's your sens. at ?
