I took my minelab Excalibur 1000 to the beach and it would not work on the wet sand. All you could hear is the threshold and when the coil touched the wet sand, it would go silent as if there was iron. I placed a quarter at 4 in and it wouldn't pick it up. I adjusted the sensitivity many times too. Then I took it to a park and it worked just fine. What do you thing is wrong with it?

Is this after you got the coil/cable wet? In pin point and discrimination?

l had similar problem believe it or not it was the battery o

When excal battery goes below 11 volts excal starts acting weird because there isn't enough voltage to run all the circuits. Charger should be putting out 18 volts before you plug it in, fully charged excal battery should be between 14-15 volts, max volts will start to drop over the years, I personally would consider replacing the battery once it gets to 12-12.5 volts after full charge as your max amp hours are also dropping as well...

I don't remember if it was before or after I got it wet. But it has worked in freshwater before. I was running in discrimination but switched to pinpoint and it still wasn't working.
