Minelab Eureka or Fisher GB2 for gold in Washington state????

Looking to buy a gold detector next week. Got a Whites classic III but looking to expand.

Either one, it depends on the best deal you can get. I picked up my eureka for 480 bucks. And it is a rock solid unit.

That's a awesome price. If I can find one at that price I will probably get me a dry washer too.

I would get the Fisher Gold Bug 2, with the 6.5" coil to start with, as setup this way its king of tiny nugget hunting, then maybe add the 10" and 14" elliptical coils later for hunting deeper larger nuggets. Super detector for chasing gold in quartz veins since its so sensitive. I have a couple friends that use the gb2 for pocket gold hunting in nevada and they do very well. The iron id function works very well on the machine as well.

Between those two high freq units, the Gold Bug II has the better track record.

yet the eureka has three freqs. My orig. gold bug is a great unit as well. If i had found a smokin deal on the gb2
thats what I woulda got.

I heard someone say that the 60Khz setting is very soft on the Eureka gold. A detector built around one freq most likely has a higher quality signal, and at 71Khz on the GB II, it's better for smaller gold. Bevo, since you still have the Eureka Gold you must be doing good with it. I don't want you to think I'm just trash talking your detector just to be difficult, I'm just passing on things I've heard on this forum over the years and my opinion. Now, If that Sidewinder Sluice guy ever comes back on to the sluice forum, then you'll see me trash talk.

Bailing away from the Eureka Gold. Now it's a race between Whites GMT and GB II. As Washington State does have alot of high mineral rock. Give opinions.....

GB2. If you get in a mineralized area just flip the mineralization switch to High.
