Went back to the mill for the 4th time. Trip # 3 was a couple days ago, on the S. side of the creek, and I found nothing. Today, I returned to the N side of the creek in the area where I found the 2 barbers in the same hole. Detected 2 hrs and found a CW bullet 3 ringer impact. I didn't know troops were in this particular area, very interesting. Then I found an 1853 Half Dime, with arrows unfortunately. I was shocked, it was under a big root. I then found 4 rivets with some leather still attached. Then found a small flat button. Interesting trip, again I had my 3 boys who had a blast climbing trees while I detected for 2 hrs. I will post any follow up trips. Bryan

Hey Ming... Ahhhh what day will you be introducing me to this area??
You did better than I today... I found $1.84 in change at a local playground. Oh, and a few pull tabs too.

Signed,

Tenderfoot

In the first picture I am on the S side of the creek. I found nothing on the S side. Note the timbers in-line with the stream flow. That was very interesting and is the only sign that the mill was ever there. All of my finds have come from the area in the distance, above the washout area

Try scanning the root ball your boy's are playing on....never know.Thank's for showing us trip #4,and congrat's on the find's.I could spend day's there......

I will try that. I have not detected the washout area around the root ball yet. I have concentrated on the higher ground behind me in that pic. I am wondering about the timbers in the creek in picture #1. Was this where the mill wheel would have been? They are about as big and sqare as railroad ties and have notches in them. Lots more exploring and detecting the area is called for and I will be going there many more times. Thanks for your comments, Bryan

You meant a half dime, right? Can you get us a close up of that baby? Great find!

OOPS, thanks for pointing that out. I modified my post. Yes it is a half dime. I have a Cannon S-200 and have had some difficulty getting good close-ups. I will try to take a better pic of it and post it tomorrow. Thanks alot. I found that a big 6" diameter root was right over the signal, so I had to dig around and underneath the root to recover it, and boy was I suprised to see it pop out. I did not rub it at all, so I waited until I got home to see what it was for sure, but I knew based on the size, that it was going to be good. I could also make out the ridges on the edge of it. Through careful, continued search of this heavily wooded and stickered site, I should be able to pull out some more good finds, I hope. I am going to employ my GPS to ensure I cover it GOOD. Thanks, bryan

Congrats, that mill site is finally starting to let lose of some silver. Continued Success and HH.

The poison ivy is starting to manifest it's presence on my arms and legs over the past couple days! ITCHY but worth it!
