can you show a pic of the back. I'll bet it's a more modern button made to look like a miltary button. If it doesn't have a loop shank that's what it is.

Yep I'm afraid it's modern. I've gotten lots of these in groups of militayr buttons I've bought.

Are you sure vayank. I ahve been digging old artifacts at this site. In the same area I dug the button today, I found the thimble, old spoon 1900 IH. If this is modern how old do you think it is?

I really sure. I've seen a lot of those buttons and none were old. I would say in the 1950's to 60's maybe a bit later
Military buttons, heck any older buttons for that matter ,are usually going to have sharper detail Plus it has that bronzish look to the face like some of the more modern one do.
