I think I sat under one of those at the beauty parlor once. Seriously I have no idea if this could truly be John Glen's space helmet

Yeah, I Googled the signature and the G in Glenn is different...but if it's a fake why make such an obvious mistake.

I know it's not a space helmet but what kind of helmet is it? Bomb disposal?

To ID the helmet (which I believe to be for high altitude flight) I would go to the Collectspace.com website - very smart people there.

Interesting piece -

Not sure what it is and if it is real signature but that is darn cool. Would be a brilliant piece for a collector.

The photo appears to show a 4-pin microphone connector, like you would commonly see on CB Radios of the mid 1970's.
I'm sure it's a common connector.

Can you post a pic of the stickers on the black part? Any other markings? My first thought looking at it is Russian, but it also kinda looks like a sand blasters helmet...

Signature is not even close to believable, as a person would not be able to switch from a single penstroke on the last name, and then do it with 3 separate strokes for the same last name. Impossible, even if he was drunk.

edit: It looks like the helmet last name might say "Glenn's" not Glenn.

Makes it seem like someone was writing who it belonged to.

Looks like an Agro media blasting helmet used for sand blasting.

I once worked at a gravestone making place - we wore a cloth type helmet with a square eye shield . I think they were Argos .

Is that your new headphones that keep people from asking you if you have "found anything good"?

I am not showing 2 different helmets...why would I do that? It is the same helmet taken from the front and the side. Don't make accusations that are completely baseless...I resent the accusations and have done nothing in my years and years on this site to warrant them.

Does it say "Hi-Temp" on the front? Firefighting equipment or other ground crew protection?

I doubt it is a flight helmet of any kind. With a bib like that your vision is seriously impaired as you can't turn your head. Of course, I wasn't flying jets in 1967, but I'm confident that turning your head was an important part of a pilot's ability to stay alive back then.
