Military Style Eagle Button I believe says "Excelsior" on front.
Found this today in one of our "hunted out" sites. The scan came out kinda bad and was real careful cleaning dirt off but button is kind of in bad shape. When I dug it up I could clearly see "IOR" as the last 3 letters in a semi circle under the Eagle to the far right. The letters run from under the Eagles left wing to just over the base on the right. The gilt on the front is black in color. It's tough to make out the writing in the scan but I believe it says "Excelsior". The top back says"EXTRA". It looks like olive branches running both sides to half way up the back. Then there is a small 1/2 circle design on top of the shank. Between the branches and the shank is more letters. "MIO or MIC" I think, then some unreadable, then 4-5 more letters. I DUNNO?!? Can someone ID? HOGGE
