Military Ring. Need Help

I have this US Army ring. I am curious as to when it is from. I think maybe the 1940's but I'm not sure. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?

Probably an everyday ring because it looks to be worn on some areas of the ring? Are there any initials on the inside? That would be a great one to return.

Only HDE 10K. That is why we are curious about it. We would love to return it to the family if possible. My friend lives in Germany and her father received it a few years ago from a German man in his 80's.
