I was in the 197th at Ft. Benning, Georgia in 1970.
It was a tempory duty unit for guys coming back from
or guys going to Viet Nam. I spent my last six months
in the service there.
That wasn't a missle, it was a rifle cartridge.

Nice addition 999. Hey does anyone recognize this one? I don't know for sure that its military (or US military). If it were, I know that the lantern would indicate learning/intelligence, the waves might indicate naval something. The serpent might suggest the "death from below" theme (submariner)... but I can't find anything.

Howdy Okie! I'd previously found similar creatures on other patches described as serpents, but I liked your scorpion idea... yet I'm still getting nowhere. This is a wool patch, but the backing is not like those of WWII military patches I have, so I think its a bit more recent.
