Interesting find. The portrait portrays Sheridan in his later Indian War years, not Civil War. The protection of the Yellowstone area was Sheridan's personal crusade. Sheridan, Wyoming was named after him. This may help solve this medallion.

ADDED: There are some congregations with the name St.Paul in Sheridan Wyoming but I can find any importance with the date 1908. Anything at all on the back?

Here's a medal depicting Gen Phil Sheridan
I have'nt been able to find out what the St. Paul 08 stands for.
Sheridan died in 1888.
Its about the size of a silver dollar and was found in Wyoming.
Any ideas?

Looks like Shriners or Masonic....Some kind of crescent and Egyptian motif.

I agree: Masonic. I think this is probably a drop from a badge issued by/for Shriners from Sheridan, Wyoming, making a pilgrimage to the Imperial Council (convention) held in St. Paul, Minnesota, July 12-18, 1908.
