Hello everyone,
I am not sure what I have here. I talked with the town supervisor and gained permission to hunt an abandon factory lot. He said just stay away from the buildings because they are not safe. I had a deep signal and was eager to use my new garrett propointer that I received today. I cut a plug and 6'' below the plug out pops another mason jar lid. It was dark and I realized the sides of the lid was gone and it had some sort of raised seal on it. I turned off my head lamp and popped it in my pouch and continued hunting. I got home and realized this was no jar lid. It had a hole in the top as it was some sort of medal or award. It looks like it may be bronze. IDK. It has a man on a horse inside a shield with a crown above the top. Anyone know what this is and how old it may be? It weighs 1.6 oz and measures 2 1/4 ".

I dont know. Looks like a knight on a horse. Im just thinking. :-\

I know, I'm right there with you. Some details about the area here are, we have a lot of mexican migrate workers and Canada is right across the detroit river. It's about an hour from here. The bursts around the shield reminded me of something from mexico, but the crown above the shield took me somewhere else. Really,No clue.

I dont know exactly what it is but its for sale on Etsy. http://www.etsy.com/listing/7698559...ht+costume&ga_page=1&ga_ref=related&ga_facet= Its described as Interesting & unique vintage necklace in good vintage condition. The chain is 29" long & the medallion pendant measures 2-1/4" in diameter. It is stamped WMCA on the back. White Metal Caster's Association began in 1930 in New York making pot metal jewelry.

What is VTG? vintage?

Very cool. Cant believe you found it. Really the only difference is the punch hole instaed of the loop. Could have drilled it later on though. Still wonder when its from and what it represents. :icon_scratch: Thanks so much for finding that sale. I almost tempted to open an account and contact the seller. He may have the background. Yhanks again big cypress.

After looking at the medal more closely I have noticed differences from the one forsale. :icon_scratch: On this one the back is flat minus a hallmark, there is a drilled hole instead of the eye loop, and there is not an indent where the hallmark should be. In addition the crowns are different too. :dontknow: I need to find out what this coat of arms means. Any takes on this one? Could it be made by the same people bigcypress found? Thanks for the help everyone.

There are some slight differences but my guess would be that it was made by the same company. I dont know what it is. The Etsy sale is a pendant. Yours may be a fob. :dontknow:

I have the exact same medallion, except the back of mine looks slightly different. I've been doing research on this since 1982 (When I found it). And only recently found that it is nothing more than a piece of jewelry from the late 50's. There are a few different types of loops on e-bay. Some have the tiny hole, some have a loop over the top edge like pendant. Check out e-bay, you'll see what I'm talking about. Sorry.
