Was thinking maybe cannon piece if anything? Not like any regular firearm. Found this gun butt plate nearby.

The first item is a piece of some sort of bearing or if you are really lucky a piece of a trunnion, its kind of reminds me of a cap square. But I still say a bearing of some sort

Half of a broken cap to hold a driveshaft in place is my new guess after looking at pics on Google. Pretty clear at least to me being a retired mechanic. A bolt went through the hole. The bolt got loose & the hole got egg shaped and the part broke. You can even see the clearance radius to the right of the hole to allow room to put a socket on the head of the bolt. In any case it's not a gun part. It's a broken chunk of something off a car, truck, farm equipment, etc.

Thanks!!! Knew there'd be someone in here that could ID it. Shoot was hoping for something amazing but oh well I'll keep digging. It's amazing what pieces are found in middle of farm fields. Thanks guys
