Hello Forum,

I went out for a short hunt, and look what I found! A military button!
Can anyone assist me with an ID? Thanks for looking! IMG_1013.JPGIMG_1014.JPG

Wow! Are you sure it's Civil War? I was thinking pre 1941 Navy. Wow!!!

Jacob Reed's Sons Phil is the back mark.

Google -> Confederate officers coat button. There's one there that looks like a match to me.

Thanks everyone for looking! The eagle is looking to the left not right, and the fluke or hook on the anchor is visible in front of the eagles left wing. Lastly the back is marked Jacob Reed's Sons Phila. This said I think it could be 1850's onward. I'm still not sure of the difference between the Jacob Reed 110 button or the Jacob Reed 115 button.

I'm at home now with my button backmark book. It says all known Jacob Reeds Sons backmarks are post war.

Thanks Steve. Boy, this really leaves me guessing. This could be WWII.

congrats on a nice find!
