My Dad said to search in his garden because he's found Indian Head pennies out there. So far I've found some wheat backs...I think 8 or 9, most are so dirty they need extensive soaking and cleaning. But today I also found a button, or at least the front of a button. The back is missing, so it looks like a button cover. Anyone here have knowledge of military buttons? I'm just about totally clueless and was wondering what I found. The nickel and dime are for size reference. I cleaned it up a bit, but it's still dirty.

Hi, Dunky!

It's a U.S. Army "Great Seal" general service button— a design introduced in 1902 and still in use today.
