I found this military button at a school. I know it has to be military because I looked at many of them online. It seems the Navy is the closest to it. It has the same exact stars in a circle around the eagle, and the eagle looks almost the exact same.

Mine has an eagle with its wings spread out looking to the left, and it has a small shield in its talons, and like arrows or a spear behind the shield. Any idea?

Nothing on the back, except corrosion and the little thing you put the string in.

I found a button that looked like yours and this is what someone told me. "I would say its most likely a real button as in old -- its a "general service" sheild type eagle with a Plain back -- they were used before the civil war , during the civil war and up until 1902 when the "great seal" button design was adopted . you might have a civil war item --- depending if there was action in the area where it was found.

The eagle is raised on the button, did they make that in civil war time?

Regardless of the condtion of the back, a photo would help in determining if it is military, old, perhaps a Military school, diplomatic or blazer button.

I looked earlier today and found no match, am looking again now, I really cannot say, if the back is rust corroded, then I would think more modern, but seriously a decent photo of what the backside looks like helps most of the time, but unfortunately not always.

ADDED: I looked thru Albert's and maybe I missed it but don't think so, if the shield you mention is where I think it is, I only saw two buttons similar to some degree. One is Alberts NY27, New York Staff saying Metropolitan Police, but again, not your button, only that it has a shield where I think you are saying yours is. The other button with a shield in that area is a Diplomatic button, Albert's OD35, but again, only for the location of the shield, which in your photo I think is in the same area. Sorry, have to punt on this one for now.

Here is the back of the button, I still need to clean it somewhat.

Do you have a close-up macro setting on your camera? Look for a flower icon.

I'm with Don, and not inclined to think it's a military button...

Maybe diplomatic, maybe a school... probebly blazer from what I see in the first picture.

Just my opinion, would love to see better pics like everyone said.

Auto focus is fine but you need a macro lens or a flower icon setting for closeups.

This is a shot in the dark but it looks like one I wore in the Marines. The button has changed over the years and I will attach a pic of the latest version.
