Hi All,

I found this button detecting in a field in New Jersey and I can't positively identify it. It says, "Pennsylvania, 28" and in the middle is a stag or a deer. I'm guessing that it's from the War of 1812 period but I can't even 100% find a regiment from Pennsylvania that's numbered 28. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

According to that article, the 28th Infantry Regiment was established in 1879.

Dude this button is awesome! An amazing piece of history!

You should be psyched to find it!

I nominated it for banner, then realized it's your first post which disqualifies it for the status... but, It IS a BANNER find in my book!

An awesome and rare find...
I especially like the design with the stag on it!
