Hi all,

I found this gilded button detecting an 1860 house in central Ohio. I believe it is military. Backmark "R&W Robinson Extra Rich." I was able to get info on the R&W Robinson company here - looks like they operated in Massachusetts 1834-1848. But the image on the front is eluding me so far. Hoping someone here can help!

I don’t think it’s military. Probably civilian or more likely a livery button.

Super find! I think it is the arms of Hawaii. I haven't located any exact past sales but this button - even broken - is worth investigating b/c it may have some significant value. Early Kingdom of Hawaii items are very popular.

That's it! Thanks so much for the help! I never would have guessed Hawaii. If anyone has additional info on this particular button or its value please let me know, but I believe this is the correct ID so I will mark as solved.

Very cool. It’s certainly not the valuable button I daydreamed about finding in my part of the world!
