Military Button Experts...Better Pics!

I found what I think may be my first military button. Sorry for the crappy pics, I am borrowing an unfamiliar camera. The front has what looks like an 8 pointed sunburst and inside the sunburst is another 4 pointed sunburst. Along the border are what may be fluer de lis or perhaps petals or just ornamentation. The shank is intact and there is a remainder of gold gilting. Anyone familiar with this button? The area it was found in did see military activity, particularly British but also French.

Yep...I'm in Nova Scotia...

Here are a couple better pics. After some more study the front actually does not have an 8 point sunburst. There is a circle and inside the circle there is a four point star with what could be smaller stars between the points. Along the edge are Fluer de Lis or decorative leaves...not sure yet...in the 3rd pic you can see the edge design more clearly
