I think this is a stumper...this is the 89th regiment button I found last night. I believe that it is War of 1812 period but the backmark should be able to tell more. Anyone with a vast reference library able to id the backmark? As you can see there is an "E" and an "A" that are very apparent. I believe that the "A" is the first letter in "AND" but I can't be positive. Additionally I believe that there is an "N" two letters after the "E" as in "...E_N..."

I wish there was more. Have at 'er!

I let the back soak in lemon juice for 30 minutes which brought out the detail as seen...I'm sure someone will be able to get something from the relation of the "A" to the "E"...just need a pic.

I'm thinking Jennens...

Well I guess it all depends if you like money.

Haven't seen any UK buttons sell in the $15,000 -$20,000 Range. Age isn't everything... history is!

Hold up Romeo.. sorry dude not talking about your button. :D

Guess..

What you see at the top maybe WE

So... 6 o'clock position going clockwise to about 1 o'clock - Firmin & Westall

5 o'clock position going counterclockwise to about 2 o'clock - Strand.

1812 backmark.

Saying an 1812 mark I mean timeframe used for War of 1812 which can cover several years ... basically post Revolution to the end of the war.
