Got out a little after work today. We went back to the area we were in on sunday when we found the 1793 LC. Not far from where I found the LC I found this button. Can someone help with the age or time frame.
I believe it is brass. It does not hang on a magnet. Very simply made stamped from a single sheet of metal.

Thank you for the help.

I think we had one posted here before. A charter member can search. I think its French and could be as old as WWI.

ADDED: Im not sure now, the spelling of equipments may not be French. Its a common button used by a lot of countries for many years but the French spell it equipements.

I found one similar about a year ago. The research I did at the time led to believe it was from (I think) WWII. French. Was from bread bag (???) Again, this was about a year ago....
Found it - button off of what was called a musette - here's a link- http://www.reenactor.net/units/151ri/8-une.html

Yep. I IDed one here a while back. Here are the buttons (hard to see) on WWI musette breadbag but the spelling is different on equipements. Could you post a pic of yours?

Sure :icon_thumleft:
I dug mine in a park where I've dug quite an assortment of coinnage (lower canada tokens, large cents, 1884 US nickel). There's also a small monument commemorating soldiers from the neighbourhood who served in WWI and WWII. My avatar (the button) was recovered from the same park....

Hey everybody, I found a button quite similar to the above ones BUT mine doesn't have a star but more like a diamond shape with a dot inside.
I found it in Luxembourg, obviously, I was thinking about the bread bag theory but all the buttons I've seen on the net do clearly have a star and not a diamond shape which let me think that maybe this one is older than WWII?
Anybody with an idea? thanks.

Found in our Sewing Hamper

Equipement Militaires button.webp My British wife's mother passed down her wicker hamper filled with needles, fasteners, ribbon and thread. Probably from the 50s. This sole Equipements Militaires button was in there. Unsure from where it originates, but it appears to be identical to one from a previous post.

Thing is with these buttons is they show up on military equipment, civilian clothing, there are two hole ones (Holes), four hole ones, and two hole ones (Slotted). They turn up made out metal (Brass), blue plastic.

Here's some on a obviously post WWII coat/jacket, the coat appears to be non-military in origin.
