Midcoast Maine Spots

Just discovered this wonderful site and am looking for suggestions on where to do some metal detecting. I've tried a couple of beaches near Owls Head. Would like to hear your suggestions.

Also are there any Maine groups that go out on hunts?

Hope....I was gonna suggest the site Marchas posted, but see he beat me to it. There are a couple members there from Downeast and group hunts are always going on.

I am new at this but in florida until April. Just bought new rig and looking forwad to meeting some people from mid coast area to go metal detecting with. I am at Meadowbrook Camping area in Phippsburg Maine. I have traced the main house back to 1832 and think it was actually built in late 1700's Looking forward to detecting that 60 acres. A lot of history in that area including the Basin area down the road. We are about 8 miles from popham beach.
