Found today. 1st crotal bell. Thoughts on the brass plunger? I’m going with grease gun. Plunger still works and some grey stuff came out. Still trying to find my first crotal nice finds

Thanks. It was a killer hunt. Accidentally dropped a nice decorative brass piece on the way out.

The part about the animal meds was supposed to go in the “what is it section” site not very user friendly. Can comments be deleted? How do you reply directly to a comment? 🤔

Sorry for your problem. You posted your "brass" thingy on two forums. You have to be in the proper thread, select REPLY WITH QUOTE and then your comments will go the the members comments. If you have any further question - please PM me and I will help you out. Again - sorry for your frustrations.

looks like a choke pull for an old car crazy guess but there it is Great old relics and post

Thanks for the feedback. The debate continues in the “what is it” forum under “brass plunger”. Fresh pics with more detail went up tonight. Lots of theories. I’m leaning more towards syringe at this point but still open for suggestions. Happy hunting!

Hi,
Techniquely you found your first sleigh bell, not crotal.

Nice. Oh yeah? Please elaborate.
It's to do with the type of attachment. Its more like a stud/rivet that attached in rows on a strap of leather that went around the neck of the pony/horse. Crotal Bell have a single loop & are attached as 'singles' mostly. Those crotal bells depending on size were used on sheep, goats, horses & maybe a few other animals.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. There should be more in that area then!

Congratualtions on the nice relics! :occasion14:

Nice finds! :icon_thumleft: That syringe is really cool.

Thank you so much. Made some killer finds so far over the last year or 2 and the syringe has definitely taken top spot over my 1773 KG3 Virginia 1/2 penny, simply because of its uniqueness. I have searched high and low on the web and haven’t found an exact match on the syringe.

My first thought was that type of mercury syringe, however yours doesn't look pewter to me. It looks much more modern than when they stopped making them in the 18th C I think...

That pic is the closest match so far. It may be bronze? I do agree that it is more modern. Upon closer examination, I found a small 5 on the size of the shaft yesterday.
