Hello All,

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Maybe a alphabet letter marker for a cemetery. Does the back show signs of any type of attachment? Also, how do you know it is from the mid 1800's?

Looks like some kind of a shim. Maybe the J was some kind of identifier to the thickness of it. It doesn't appear to be laying flat on the opposite side of it. Is there something on the reverse side of it?? Maybe it's just bent some??

Doesn't have to be mid-1800s, but it was found in a mid 1800s trash pit where there was nothing dug that was newer except for a very occasional piece of can slaw.

It's totally flat. Back side is blank.
