Michigan Badger's Silver uMax secret works on GOLD too!!
In the Reviews forum MB dishes out a neat little trick for the Silver uMax (thanks MB!)...maxing out the sensitivity as high as possible without chattering and setting the disc to the "o" in foil. Well, I didn't get any deep silver coins but I did snag this beautiful antique 14K gold ring at about 5" right next to the old Womens Club (built in the '20s). It was up against the curb in an easement and I know I've passed by it before with my detector but never heard it, or, heard it and thought it was junk. This time, though, outfitted with my 10x12, it did not escape despite a slightly broken signal, and, given the fact that I have not been out much lately, it was to refreshing to dig something I could come home and brag about. Looks like a wedding ring but it is quite small (won't even go past the second knuckle on my pinky finger). Now I've got to go back and find the stone I left behind!!
