Hey all

Anyone know of any mexican laws against carrying metal detectors in mexico we are planning a hunt from a small town below Brownsvlle, Tx in Mexico to near Tampico, we will be beach hunting where two spanish ship went down near shore. But I bet there is alot of spanish wood on the bottom of the sea in between that are close to shore.

hi George,
hope this isn't to late a response, i know of no laws restricting the use of MD's in that area when you get to tampico there is a place i used to stay called hotel san antonio, reasonable rates, clean, hot water, and ceiling fans. there are some rock outcroppings that make for very good spearfishing.
las ruins de tajin in poza rica isn't far and is a state run site that is interesting to visit.
there is a site about half way from brownsville to tampico that is not run by the gov that is very cool, if i can find the name i will post it.
just be sure to make friends with the locals before you go snooping to much.
there are some beautiful beachs along the coast enjoy your trip.
