I am into meteorites and have been since about 2004. I have spent considerable time hunting them and enjoy learning about them. this is my first time on this forum and was hoping there are like-minded folks on here. Hi to all.
You will find some guys/gals here who share your interest, and I am sure they are a wealth of knowledge.

Welcome, glad you joined us.

Me too. Been collecting and studying for over 40 years. If you scroll down, you'll see there is a specific forum for meteorites.

Welcome to Tnet.

Welcome!

1st - I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forum: Select Your Area.... for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

2nd - You might consider browsing our Forum: METEORITES...

Welcome to a GREAT Forum. !!1 Have you had any luck in the past finding any ?

I am in western Colorado.
Hi Terry, good to see a familiar face.
Hey Gare, well maybe. But they are all little so sort of nothing burgers. Here is an Iron piece I found two days ago. It is poor picture quality because it was taken using a little camera on a low-power m-scope and the piece is only approximately 1/4" long. Front and back of the little bugger:

Rockbiter thank you for your reply and pictures :) How do you find them >? I mean do you have information like where one came down ?

Thank you for yo9ur input :)

Gare, I use a magnet rake. I found that little iron in some road base I had delivered to my driveway. Found several pieces but that one is the largest.

It's possible that those pieces are meteoritic, but road base may contain crushed slag (usually steel slag) as a proportion of the mix.

Have you conducted any other confirmatory tests beyond attraction to a magnet?

Red coat you beat me to it :)

one thing i have found out is that iron meteorites don't try to orient themselves when you place them on a magnet. there were other pieces of metal in the mix but they do want to orient to a specific position, often standing on end. because of the grain orientation. Anyway, I don't automatically assume they are meteorites but I would bet heavily on it that they are. it is hard to do much testing on a piece so small. I don't put much faith in nickel testing, although i have a kit.
One more thing is that iron meteorites don't become a magnet after being placed on a magnet. man-made iron does. The little pieces do not attract other stuff, black sand, etc. so another good indicator but still not positive proof, I know.

Here is a picture of my little collection. Gao, NWA 869, Canyon Diablo and a small iron from China, can't remember the name on it. Also a couple Indochinites and then the small vials have some suspect pieces. The Canyon Diablo on the left side is 773g. That's it, that is all I got. : )
