O.K. here's another "is this a meteorite?" post. I actually picked this up at a garage sale a few years ago. I had it for a while before I even thought that it could be a meteorite. I just bought it because it was a cool rock! Anyway, it's kind of square in shape with obvious pieces broken off. The unbroken parts look like possible fusion crust to me. The broken surfaces are jagged and have a sparkly appearance. You can't see in the pictures but under a fluorescent light bulb, there is what looks like tiny green stone on the surface in some places....the rest of it is some type of metal. I tested it with a magnet a few years ago and I don't remember the results so I'll have to find another magnet to re-test. (I just moved a few weeks ago and I know the magnets are in one of these boxes.) It measures approx. 46mm x 48mm x 58mm and weighs 636 grams. I haven't done a streak test. The thing is heavy for it's size. It's dark brown to black in color with no rust anywhere if that matters??
Does anyone know if there is somewhere in Florida that will test meteorites. Any help or opinions are appreciated!!
