My friend found this in Lucerne dry lakebed in southern california. the lakebed has had many small meteorites found around it...but this could have more nickel than iron , is magnetic , weight= 4.080 oz , about 2x3 inch...see pictures.. I guess ill have it tested , and yes there are volcanic rock surrounding the area.....Anyone ? Again,,,
Grind or cut a small window,,to see the interior specifics.
And this "fusion crust"
I'm not sure if I see this.
However, I DO see that evidence of "heat" is definitely shown.
BUT
The "bubbles" I see in several images leads me to thing IGNEOUS.

Thanks for providing so many photos. That makes out job much easier.

Bottom left photo (without cent) and photo to the right suggest bubbles in it or had bubbles originally. Sorry. These are not indications of meteorites.

ya kinda thinking that myself ,, so im going to slice a piece off like hitndahed said then ill post pictures of it up close .

well i had some time to cut it , yes there are bubbles mix in ! so igneous. have you ever seen a cross section of a carbon meteorite ? very rare kinda looks like the area that broke clean while i was cutting it. also i added a picture of a Canyon Diablo piece i have in my collection that i think is very cool looking.IMG_20160706_112448468_HDR.jpgIMG_20160706_112505564_HDR.jpgIMG_20160706_112526510_HDR.jpgIMG_20160706_112551479_HDR.jpgIMG_20160706_112652702_HDR.jpgIMG_20160706_112705011_HDR.jpgIMG_20160706_133604247.jpg
