This is a very odd looking type of iron rock or something like that. It looks like theres a fusion crust, its heavy, and magnetic. Some one on FB said it was magnitite. I looked up a ton of pics of it, and nothing resembles it, and the funky design crust. I looked at alot of pics of the meteorites too, and didnt see anything simular Its got me even more curious. Anyone have any ideas what it is, and what would give it this design? Thanks for looking.

Southie E.J.,

Thats a Crazy looking rock! It seems to be a piece of Slag. Something that was heated to a high degree and caused "vesicles" or air bubbles on the inside. A Meteor won't have "vesicles" but a Lunar rock can...This looks like it was placed on a Bar-B-Que grill and got "charcoal-ed"...:)

Possibly Eu_Citizen can ID this alot better...Hopefully he or someone else can be more definite. Thanks for showing...its a mystery to me.

The only holes in it are the ones that look like a face. Just 3 large ones. The other stuff that looks like airy stone is actually sand stuck on some of the rust. I cant get it off unless I bust it off, but its solid other than how it appears in the pic.

Meteor wrong is what it looks like to me.
Search the web and for 35.00 plus shipping you can have it identified only yes or no by the meteorite men . You can also send them a picture. I've done it recently and got the no answer but I sent 5 rocks. all slag

Ive found slag too, and airy stones as well, but this is solid. The only holes are the 3 big air bubbles that look like a face. This isnt burnt or anything like that. It may look like that in the pic, but its sand stuck to hard rust that gives it the look of burnt slag, Its actually solid, heavy, and smooth where the sand isnt stuck on it. Even if its not a meteorite I still think its something cool & unusual, so Im dying to find out either way.

I don't know what it is but in my opinion is that it is not a meteorite, where did you find it because if you didn't actually see it land on your roof then it would be hard to prove without extensive testing.

looks like a piece of smelted iron from the inside of a crucible. Looks man made, not natural.
