Also very common in Bexar Country, Kerville area and Junction.

Had tons and tons of them on our ranches. Since you could not walk ten feet without finding fossils or arrow heads, I had figured as a kid that these too must be something special. Then around my 5th year at UT in Austin one of my professors told me about a private gun auction that was invite only out on a ranch in Round Top. We headed out there for it and the ground had tons of them laying on top. Told him as a kid I used to save these, always figured they where from space or something; him being a Bio professor he said it was the most common stone in Texas that students and others bring in thinking they found something great.

So I found out they where not anything special at all, but I did walk out with a matching pair fully gold plated Uzi´s, things where so tacky looking I stole them for 1100 bucks for the pair. Like those stones I figured someone some where down the road would think they too where special.

Couple weeks later I drove up to the Junction where I kept all my finds, got in the front end loader and proceeded to fill up a wash out that had been a bother since I could remember, six buckets later they where gone and I that wash out was in better shape.

Got back to the house and one of our cowboys asked if I finally out grew saving everything I found, I said no just the things that are worthless. He said boy you need to pay better attention in school, your parents did not work this hard so you could be stupid. I told him Jon I am am a History major and he said this ranch has 30 wetbacks on it that all know you where saving a pile crap, he said thats why they built you that barn for your arrow heads and fossils, notice how the crap never made it in there.

Then I showed him the two guns, right away he said what are you going to do with those, then he said man I bet you could find some really dumb person in the city to sell those to.

Anyway, strike out again. But do not let that stop you, heck pick up everything, in fact get you a metal detector and dig stuff up to. It fun, if you find something you do not know what it is, ask someone here, folks here are always willing to help.
