Hello TreasureNet! Recently on a hiking trip we came across this odd, heavy, metallic "ball" embedded into the creek bed (which I believe is limestone, or some other type of shale rock.) There was an indentation where the object fit into the rock, and there were a few more of these down stream.
We originally just thought it was a geode, but it is heavy and upon scraping the surface, a metallic shine came through. Then my mind came up with all sorts of ideas! Meteorite? Cannon ball? Iron nodule? I put a magnet to it with no reaction. There appears to be cuboid metallic structures on the bottom of the object, resembling pyrite.
Has anyone seen this before on their ventures?
