If it was grooved deeper I would suggest it is Babbitt metal from a cast bearing. Might still be. About every piece of large machinery made before WWII used them.

small piece of old copper trolley wire. sorry just seen you said it was lead so i guess im wrong. sure its not copper 4th pic sure looks like trolley wire. :dontknow:
