Metal object?

Found this near a park and athletic field. If it were a solid cube it would measure about 1" on either side. Penny is just for size comparison. It is nonmagnetic, probably aluminum? Looks like a gun sight but really is too crude for the gunsights I am familiar with. No marks or numbers anywhere. Any ideas?

Looks like a cast metal bracket for the bleachers maybe.
Is this aluminum? Or possibly cast iron, bronze, brass?

Hard to tell though.
Can you post a top and back view picture?

I think you may be right, it look's a little like one.

IT DOES LOOK LIKE SOME SORT OF RETAINING CLIP.

It may also be an adjustable slider for a shower door.

IF THE HOLE IS THREADED, IT COULD BE SOME KIND OF CLIP TO HOLD A SHEET OF GLASS. A SCREW PUSHES AGAINST THE GLASS TO HOLD IT IN PLACE. SHOWER DOOR COULD BE RIGHT.

Kinda looks like a bb-gun sight to me.The kind you could adjust by moving it forward or backward to raise it or lower it.The old Crossman 760 maybe.But it's been a while since I owned one. So is the hole threaded?

to me it looks like a sight off a old or new black powder gun , the back one?

The hole is not threaded. I thought gunsight at first myself, but it is really too rough and heavy for a gunsight. The back of the thing is just flat metal. I did a little scraping on one corner and it looks like it's going to be made of brass. Monty

I found some other what is its and they turned out to be shelf brackets too, so I wouldn't be surprised. Thanks for the good answers I think we have it figured out. Monty
