This metal piece was in the bullet cache cigar box I posted last dec. in best finds . The back says .... /tab arti/tici are those slashes supposed to be 's' ? below that it says FLORENTINI - i'm guessing Italian ? Below the sword it says .... A.XVI . Above the grip it says ...G.I.L I'm not sure how to clean that orange stuff off - it seems like glue or somthing .
I can't make out what the cursive writting says .Any ideas ?? Thanks !

Mojjax, your find is a Fascist Italian Youth sports organization kerchief slide. The cursive inscription is a facsimile signature of Benito Mussolini. Those /'s in the maker's mark are indeed stylized S's. "Stab. Artistici, Fiorentini" is a major Italian manufacturer of pins, badges, etc., as well as military medals and insignia.
