No it's not soft it's not leadLooks like a piece of lead Bar. Is it soft?
does it flake or scratch? if so, it might be fossilized bone. In Florida they find a lot of fossilized bone that weathers black. Turtle, manatee etc.

prob zinc. a cheap test is file a space
and if it gives a mirror like shine,its zinc
and post an img, of the results
he dosent think its magnesium, 2oz is
a little heavy for the size of the object
but a cheap test, for magnesium put
a few drops vinegar on it, should bubble
another close Up its shiny. No reaction to the vinegari cant tell from img, does it look a mirror shine
